Hon. Abiola Makinde; the Member House of Representatives representing Ondo East and West Federal Constituency in conjunction with his Wife; Dr. Rhoda Oluwatoberu Makinde, the CEO/Executive Director of Dr. Rhoda Makinde Initiative (DROMI), played host to orphans in Orphanage homes, Churches, Mosques, Schools and other communities across Ondo as different food items, bicycles, toiletries, fabrics, cash, etc. were distributed to orphans.

The programme 'Let the Orphans Be Glad' is one of the lined up events to show love to the fatherless this season of love.

The programme, which took place at the Oba Adesanoye Civic Centre, witnessed orphans gather in numbers to receive gifts from the legislator and his wife, Dr. Rhoda Makinde.

Hon. Abiola Makinde, in his speech, said, "This project is a joint initiative of both myself and my wife Dr. Rhoda Makinde, the founder of DROMI. It is a genuine drive to reach out to the orphans in our community and also to give back to the community in our little capacity".

Also, the wife, Dr. Rhoda Makinde, said, "This is part of those things we do to give back to the community. Orphans are humans, too,  and they should be fully taken care of. Losing their parents is not their fault..." 

The orphans were also engaged in dancing competitions, raffle draws and other games attracting bicycles, food items, and cash prizes.
